MOTOR YACHTS CHARTERING
The biggest difference between a motor yacht charter and a sailing yacht charter is the price.
As it regards chartering fees within the same boat category, the difference is a 20% to 30% advantage for motor boat rental. The fuel consumption of the latter ranges from 40 litres (≈ 10.5 US gallons) to 300 litres (≈ 79.25 US gallons) per hour, depending on ship type and size, but mostly on engine performance. Of course, their cruising characteristics and speed are not comparable to those of sailboats, since some types can reach cruising speeds of up to 80 km/h (cca. 50 mph).
Chartered motor boats are in the higher price range of boat rentals especially because of their fuel consumption, so the majority of producers strives to offer luxury amenities as a standard in order to gain customer sympathy despite the extra costs.
